According to the FDA and CDC guidelines, it's recommended to use a hand sanitizing solution of at least 60% alcohol to effectively sanitize your hands.
Hand sanitizer should never replace washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water (for a minimum of 20 seconds!) and is only meant to be a substitute when hand-washing is not immediately available. So if you're ever going to be in a situation where there's no good source for washing your hands, make sure you'll have access to hand sanitizer!
